In addition to your Achilles tendon and calves feeling stronger and better than ever before, this comprehensive program will also improve the strength of your feet, knees, and hips.
We’ve included customizable exercise categories aimed at improving the mobility of your feet, calves, and hamstrings.
Develop the necessary perquisites for running, sports, or other activities by working your way through our optional jumping and plyometric progressions.
Achilles Tendinitis/Tendinosis/Tendinopathy
These are all referring to the same condition – Achilles tendon pain & impaired function.
Achilles tendinopathy is actually the umbrella term and preferred diagnosis. It is typically categorized based on the location of symptoms as either mid-portion or insertional*.
*All education, exercise progressions, and recommendations in this program apply to mid-portion and insertional Achilles tendinopathy.
By progressing through this program, you will perform exercises that address known deficits or difficulties associated with Achilles tendinopathy.
The goal with these exercise categories is fairly simple – build your capacity by:
Compound and isolated resistance exercises and optional plyometrics will improve your tolerance to various forms of loading, such as walking, running, and playing sports.
Improve the strength, mobility, endurance, and overall function of your Achilles tendon and calf, as well as the rest of your kinetic chain.

Tendon ruptures are extremely rare in people with Achilles tendinopathy, especially when using a graded exercise program. If you have concerns, consult with your medical doctor.
If your rupture and/or surgery were not recent, this program is likely suitable for you. However, you should always receive clearance to exercise from your medical doctor.
Yes, preferably on the days you’re not performing this program.
It is not recommended as this program is challenging and comprehensive, especially if you include the optional exercise categories.

No worries! The program is modifiable so it can be performed in a gym or the comfort of your living room.
Since the program is modifiable, no equipment is needed to start the program. However, to perform EVERY exercise in the program, weights (barbell, dumbbells, kettlebells, or a backpack filled with weights), bands (any variety), sliders, and a step (or objects stacked that you can safely stand on) are required.
